Hope berths in Sydney

Greenpeace’s Esperanza berths in Sydney’s White Bay, steps away from our place. This is the second or third time that we’ve spotted the ship in our front yard. The 72m long former firefighting vessel has been in Greenpeace’s services since 2002, and is famous for its anti-whaling campaigns in the Antarctica.
Launching a campaign to make alternative energy usage more attractive through legislation, Greenpeace is holding open days along some harbours on the east coast of Australia. The public is invited to see the ship, hear from crew members, and get involved in the new campaign.
Churchill Child Partnership Architects Website Online
To celebrate their 10-year existence, CCP, and architecture and interior design firm which is based above our office in Balmain East, have launched an updated website. Our involvement consisted of back-end integration, automated page creation and re-coding the site in HTML rather than using Flash.
Apple Store Opens in Sydney

Apple has opened a new store in CBD Sydney. With hundreds of people queuing for up to 2 hours, this store marks the return of a self-branded Apple store in Sydney. Using a showroom-style concept, the primary aim is not to sell goods, but to showcase the sleek design and power of Apple’s products.

Australia Map by Postcodes

As part of our redevelopment of the retirement village real-estate website villages.com.au we have sourced the coordinates of all 16K+ postcode locations in Australia. As a small exercise (and to test if the coordinates are realistic), I’ve created a quick and dirty map of Australia based on those coordinates. It’s interesting to notice how densely populated the east coast and south-east coast of Australia are as opposed to Western Australia.
The next steps will be the implementation of an ajax-driven metaphone place-name search and the sourcing the actual driving distances between places, so as to get the most accurate location finder possible.

Charitable Work
Fountain of Hope is an Australian government accredited charitable organisation founded recently by Anthony Lang. It supports homeless children in Australia. We have provided Anthony with a temporary holding page, and will be creating a full website shortly.
The program aims at helping homeless children achieve a better position to be able to find work, manage their finances and build more self-esteem.
Integrated with Paypal’s donation system, the website will help Anthony with his fundraising efforts and will hopefully allow him to grow the charity to a larger size.
